Many would ask why competent leaders are deliberately not being elected by the masses. People, in general, would not really look into a candidate’s curriculum vitae and use it as the sole foundation of their decision making. Elections are not like the admission board of a university in which academic achievements and volunteer work are the ones that would weigh the most. Among other things, what people look for is compassion. If people think that you’ve been in their shoes, too, they would be willing to overlook your incompetence in the hopes of your compassion compensating for your lack of experience or knowledge.
Sometimes, that mindset isn’t all that bad. Sometimes, competency does not equate to suitability.
